About Essence  

Essence Wiley graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Media, Journalism, and Film Communications. Essence plans to pursue fashion journalism at a major publication. She is particularly interested in fashion through a cultural lens and is passionate about exploring how different cultures influence the world. As an editor, she hopes to uplift diverse stories and take an innovative approach to journalism. In college, Essence served as the Editor In Chief of Cover 2 Cover Magazine, a newly revamped student publication that single-handedly reinvigorated Howard’s campus media landscape. She was recognized for her contributions as a student leader through the Robert Asher Exemplar Award and HerCampus' Media Superstar series. The former American Society of Magazine Editors Intern has bylines in ESSENCE, Washingtonian, and The Root. Essence aims to be a source of representation for minority women who may not see themselves represented in the fashion and media industry.
